Going to Bejing!

February 10th, 2008

Though I have already almost abandoned the idea of going to Beijing to the 2008 Linux Developer Symposium China, I will still go since I found an affordable flight ticket. I am quite excited about going to Beijing, and I am sure there will be plenty to discover for me. However, I have heard about the awful weather there lately and I am kind of scared of the cold. Guess I’ll need to go do some serious shopping before leaving.

Very glad to meet you in “2008 Linux Developer Symposium China” in Beijing, I am Awen.

It seems that it is difficult to you know how Chinese open source marketing develop, it seems that you will write some article to research Red Flag Linux…

    Maybe I can help you:
    1. I have once tested Red Flag / Linux (Asianux) on IBM POWRE platform in IBM Lab, as a testing engineer in IBM China. If you want, I can introduce you to our teammate in Red Flag Linux Company…

    2. About your research topic, I know nothing, but I am interesting of it very much - open source development in China…, could you tell me detail? Why do you plan the topic?

    3. Chinese language is simpler than English, I think. Haha. Maybe we can learn each other. If you want to research the topic - open source development in China, maybe you need talk about deeply with a lot of developer in China.

    Hi Awen,

Wow, this is great! Thanks a lot for your comment.

    1. Yes, I would love to meet that person :).

    2. I am mainly interested in how open source development is being done in detail, that is:
    - Who is using Open Source in China?
    - Who is contributing to Open Source in China?
    - Who is not contributing?
    - How do developers interact with the open source community?
    - Which are the impediments for Chinese to participate in Open Source development?
    - How is Open Source development in China being done in detail?

    3. Yes, that’s mainly what I am planning to do.

Sorry, as a pre-sales engineer of Linux on POWER system, I am busy with our business and do not reply your question quickly…
I am thinking over your question carefully, but it seems that I have no way to answer the all questions… Let me think, thank you!
