I am currently in Bangok, Thailand, doing an internship at a UK-based company and learning more about software development in Asia. First impression: Software development here doesn’t seem very different from Europe.

I would like to mention some upcoming events I might attend in the region:

• BarCamp Bangkok : The first BarCamp in Bangkok actually. It will be taking place on January 26, 2008 at a yet to be defined location in Bangkok. A quick look at the list of attendees (or campers as it’s a BarCamp) indicates that there will be quite a few foreigners participating.

• 2008 Linux Developer Symposium China : A Linux developer symposium which aims at “increasing Chinese developer participation in Linux and educating kernel developers of Chinese open source projects”. It takes place on February 19-20, 2008 in Beijing, China.

• Asia OSS Conference & Showcase 2008 : will be held on March 8 -14, 2008 in Guangzhou, China.
